About Repair or Replace
Repair or Replace is a free worksheet for US homeowners facing a real repair or replacement quote. It compares known out-of-pocket amounts, keeps up to three replacement proposals separate, and identifies the next missing question. It does not sell or rank contractors.
How the result is made
The calculation runs in your browser from the figures and answers you enter. State-average electricity data is attributed to the US Energy Information Administration; nearby heating and cooling climate normals come from NOAA. Neither source supplies an installed price or predicts savings for your particular home. Read the full methodology for formulas and limits.
What we do not do
We do not inspect equipment, verify a diagnosis, certify contractor work, or determine whether a home is safe. A reported hazard pauses the financial comparison. The site includes AdSense placements that may display after Google approves the site. It does not sell leads or accept contractor-paid placement, and advertising does not determine the worksheet result.
A different scope table for each project
A roof proposal and a panel proposal do not ask for the same lines. Open the guide that matches the quote in front of you. Each one lists what a repair quote and a replacement quote have to say in writing.
- HVAC repair or replace: start with the written diagnosis Start from the written HVAC diagnosis, not the age of the system.
