AC repair or replace: compare the repair with the installed system
A central-air quote can describe a component repair, a condenser swap, or an entire matched system. Those are different jobs. Record the repair total first; then enter each installed replacement proposal separately so rebates, warranties, and omitted work do not get mixed together.
Separate a part repair from a matched system
- Ask the contractor to identify the failed component and the measurements behind the diagnosis. A warm room may also reflect airflow or duct problems, not necessarily a failed outdoor unit.
- For replacement, record the indoor and outdoor models and the sizing method. A lower equipment price cannot settle whether the system is properly matched and installed.
- If a proposal states annual kWh savings, enter that figure as its own scenario. Without a documented figure, the worksheet does not invent one from an efficiency label.

A missing cell means the quote has not said. Ask whether that work is excluded or will be priced later. Do not treat a blank as included.

Questions for the air-conditioning contractor
- What test confirms this repair will restore cooling?
- Did the replacement estimate include the indoor coil and any required duct changes?
- What measurements will be documented at startup?
Compare the repair with the installed system
Tell a condenser swap apart from a matched indoor and outdoor system. Enter the repair quote even if the replacement price is still blank, and keep each proposal's rebate on its own line.
