Electrical panel repair or upgrade: clarify the defect and service scope

A quoted panel upgrade can address a specific defect, a capacity need, or both. Those are different reasons for work. If there is sparking, heat, a burning smell, or exposed live parts, stop using a price worksheet as the decision-maker and seek qualified help. Otherwise request the written finding and compare the complete scope.

Name the defect or the load that was calculated

Ask which defect or load requirement was documented and which inspection or calculation supports the proposed work.
Clarify whether the utility, meter, service conductors, grounding, circuit labeling, and permits are included in the quoted total.
If the upgrade is linked to an electrification project, verify any incentive for this exact work before entering it as a discount.

Panel scope on the proposal

A missing cell means the quote has not said. Ask whether that work is excluded or will be priced later. Do not treat a blank as included.
